Hihi, My Tulips! 🌷
(yess this is my nickname for you all; credits to my sister)
Welcome to the nectar note. I’m so happy you’re here to learn and grow with me!
I’m Mariana Gomez: a 23-year-old, born and raised in Queens with Cali, Colombia roots, a Parsons grad, current NYU masters student, and a firm believer that your morning/night skincare routine is just as much “wellness” as going to your favorite pilates class (which I also love doing).
Quickly, what is the nectar note? To me, the beauty and wellness industries are at their best when they make you feel relaxed and relieved. This isn’t just about looking good in a specific lipstick (though we will talk about the perfect shade); it’s about the interrelationship between how we treat our bodies and feel confident in our own skin. You can read more, about The Nectar Note on my welcome page where I dig further into the content to expect and why this blog is different from others.
Going back to a little bit more about me you can say I am a girl who lives for both runway and vanity. My background is in fashion communications and strategic design, where I’ve dedicated my work to body shape inclusivity. I believe every woman deserves to feel seen in what she wears and that visibility shouldn’t stop at your outfit. I want to bring that same light to the beauty and wellness industries. To some, these worlds are just about aesthetics or chasing the next “it” product, but to me it goes deeper. Similar to my fascination on how a garment is constructed, how it moves on a runway, and how digital innovation is changing the game, beauty and wellness routines, product development, and usage interests me.
However, you can also find me keeping myself busy with some hobbies…
- Re-learning to love running
- Cafe hopping and restaurant hopping
- Illustrating in my sketchbook
- Concerts
- Journaling
Being the youngest of three sisters (yes, I love it being the youngest heheh). I’m on a mission to connect the dots between beauty and wellness, the products we use, and the way we feel using them. Get ready for a little bit of everything!
xoxo, Mari
